Boston is once again gearing up for its world-famous marathon. Join the excitement in April and run in the race, or cheer on participants from the sidelines. Whichever way you enjoy the Boston Marathon, make sure you stick around and check out things to do in Boston, too.
Plan on a whole weekend in Boston leading up to the marathon.
On the Friday before the marathon, pick up your race number at John B. Hynes Convention Center in the morning, then leave the rest of the weekend to sight-see.
Boston is a storied city. Just a few of the historical sights and places of note you can visit include the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, the Paul Revere House, the Freedom Trail, and the Old South Meeting House, where the American Revolution was born.
Monday, April 17 is the big day. Lace up your running shoes and pin on your number; waves of runners will begin at 8:50 and continue until 11:15.
The city is more than just historic. Other things to do in Boston are fun for the whole family. Pay a visit to the New England Aquarium, or hop aboard one of the Swan Boats of Boston. Go whale watching, see a baseball game at Fenway, or head to the famous Boston Children’s Museum.
